So, if you’re ready to trade in your daily chaos for some tranquil solitude, a solo retreat might just be your ticket to a happier, more centered you.
Accommodation
Our bohemian-style caravan is kept in a quiet corner of the Retreat Center Garden, so you have your own private area during the solo retreat.
Please be aware, Yogi Living Retreat Center is situated in a small rural village among farm fields. The landscape is beautifully serene, but there is some traffic noise, and occassionally agricultural machinery working the fields. We are not a forest hermitage, but a part of country life in Skåne.
The caravan has the following amenities:
- Plenty of small storage cupboards.
- A small cupboard for hanging clothes.
- Table with eating/reading area, which converts into the sleeping bed.
- Cushions and blankets for comfort.
- Fresh water container, sink and draining area.
- Plates, bowls, cups and utensils, cutting knife and chopping board.
- Water boiler with a selection of teas and biscuits.
- Ingredients for breakfast: muesli, grain flakes, oat milk, honey, bread and butter.
- A small fridge.
- 1 kW room heater.
- Night light.
- Outside table with seating.
We can provide extra pillows, sheets or a heated blanket should you require it. If you have any other specific needs let us know when you book.
The Colder Months
It can get very cold in the Winter (down to -20 degrees) and the heating will need to be on all day and night to keep you cosy! From November through March we ask for an extra 600 SEK (about 50 Euros) to cover the cost of electric heating.
Rewind And Reconnect
You stay in the boho caravan tucked away in a quiet corner of the Yogi Living Retreat Center garden. Once a day we bring you a warm home-cooked vegetarian meal. The caravan has tea-making facilities, dry ingredients for breakfast and a heater. Showers can be taken at certain times in the main house.
There is a treehouse platform overlooking the gardens that is perfect for sitting meditation. Should you need to soothe away aches and pains, ask to use the outdoor hot tub, which we can set up for your sole use.
You have the option each day to take a yoga class. See below for options. You are free to borrow one of the Retreat Center bikes and explore the surrounding lanes, and (mostly empty) countryside. This can be a remarkably soothing experience.
You do not ever need to break mauna (noble silence) unless you choose to. If there is anything you need, simply leave a note on the table, for us to see.
A solo yoga retreat can be challenging, but it can change your life. The following testimonial describes how a week of solitude lead to personal clarity, emotional healing, and a renewed sense of purpose.
My solo meditation retreat was nothing short of transformative. It was a journey back to myself, and it changed my life profoundly. For a week, I immersed myself in complete silence and solitude. The retreat allowed me to deeply reflect on my priorities and purpose. I returned to my daily life with renewed energy, a clearer sense of direction, and a newfound ability to handle stress with grace.

solo retreat yoga options
Being on solo retreat never means doing nothing. You may feel you have enough on your plate but we do recommend taking advantage of private yoga instruction (without having to break silence) during your stay at the Retreat Center. Including mindful exercise into the retreat supports your process, and can be highly beneficial.
Please be aware these options (below) need to booked separately. We do not list prices for these, instead we encourage the practice of giving. Any amount you are able to give supports the center and helps keep our prices low.
1. Surya Kriya (Sun Salutation)
A powerful Kundalini Activation practice to promote complete inner wellbeing. The practice aims to activate the solar plexus, raising the samat prana, or solar heat, within the body.
2. Pranayamas (Breathwork)
Breath plays a major role in Kundalini Activation. Methods used include rapid breathing, like Breath of Fire, as well as alternate nostril breathing and deep, belly breathing.
3. Dynamic Meditation
An active meditation with breath work, wild movements, and emotional release. Helps move stagnant energy and break conditioned patterns that keep one imprisoned in the past.
4. Kundalini Kriyas (Sequences)
Kriyas are combinations of postures, breath work, and mantras. Each kriya has a specific outcome, such as detox, increased energy, or emotional balance. Kundalini Kriyas focus energy on and through the chakras to activate kundalini.
5. Tibetan Rites (Trul Khor)
Secret practices from Tibetan monasteries. The rites combine movement, breathwork, and meditation to balance the chakras and create a shield against negative energy.
6. Emotional Release (3 Step Process)
Clients are freed from stuck emotions from hurtful past relationships and life traumas. We can then create a new positive energy frequency. The 3 step process is a complete emotional and physical reset.

These practices are a part of a comprehensive system aimed at self-realization, and the harmonious integration of body, mind, and spirit. Guidance from an experienced teacher during your solo retreat can significantly deepen your experience.
Retreat is not a matter of hiding or running away. It is an opportunity to heal, reflect, and emerge stronger, more connected to the essence of who you truly are.

Here is a list of solo retreat essentials:
1. Comfortable Clothing
Casual, comfortable clothing: Opt for clothes that allow you to move easily and sit comfortably during meditation. Think yoga pants, loose-fitting tops, and lightweight layers.
Warm layers: Don’t forget to pack some warm clothing, even in the warmer months it can get cool in the evenings.
2. Meditation Gear
Meditation cushion or blanket: We can provide these, but bringing your own can enhance comfort.
Yoga mat: If you prefer practicing on your own yoga mat, it’s a good idea to bring it, though there are mats at the Ashram you are welcome to use.

The Rewards of Solitude
The experience of a solo retreat is one of marked stillness and quiet. The site is set up to minimize distractions and external stimuli.
Personal silence and solitude can be daunting for those not used to being alone. Without the usual distractions, thoughts and emotions deep in the subconscious may begin to surface. Sometimes this is preceded by physical discomfort, restlessness, or emotional turbulence. This can be challenging.
You have the opportunity to have personal yoga instruction from an experienced yoga teacher while on your solo retreat. If you experience discomfort, physical or mental, be aware that support is available. And don’t forget to ask about beach yoga, it’s one Skåne’s best kept secrets!
Being alone encourages self-discovery, making it easier to shed old mental and emotional patterns, and to experience a personal transformation.
As the retreat nears its end, you may notice a shift in your mental and emotional state. There is likely to have been some degree of emotional release and healing. The mind is quieter, thoughts are clearer, and there is a deep sense of calm.
Many participants report feeling a stronger connection with themselves, and a renewed sense of purpose. It can even be a life-changing experience for some.

frequently asked questions
Is this a silent retreat?
The structure of the retreat is entirely up to you. However, we do strongly advise maintaining silence for the duration of your stay, where possible. Noble silence, or mauna, has been used for centuries as a means to both deepen your meditation and to catalyze personal insight.
Should you need support, emotional or otherwise, feel free to talk with one of the teachers at the Retreat Center.
What is included in the retreat?
Your booking includes accommodation, meals and basic facilities. There are teaching options you can choose for any of the days of the retreat (click here) which need to be booked separately. We do not list prices for these, instead we encourage the practice of giving. Our main purpose is to provide space for you to retreat on your own terms.
What form of meditation is taught?
One of the Retreat Center teachers can provide instruction: teaching is based on Indian and Tibetan forms of kundalini tantra yoga, and is non-denominational. You do not have to meditate, though it is normal and recommended for such retreats. You are more than welcome to use the time for journalling, personal reflection, prayer or art. You can also bring your own practice.
Do I need yoga experience?
Not at all. Yoga classes are optional and tailored to individual needs, without the complicated postures you may see online.
Are classes held in English?
Yogi Living Retreat Center resident yoga teacher Winnie Winnetu speaks English, Swedish, Danish, French and German so don’t worry if you cannot speak Swedish!
How do I get to Yogi Living Retreat Center?
Yogi Living Retreat Center is located in Skåne, South Sweden close to the vibrant city of Malmö. The closest international airports are Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (75 km) and Malmö airport, Sturup (30 km) with good rail connections to Malmö and on to Trelleborg (our closest town). You can also come by car through Germany and take the ferry from Rostock to Trelleborg. There are 3 sailings (6 hours duration) per day.
We can pick you up by car from Malmö or Trelleborg, but please ask for this in advance.
What is the local area like?
The surrounding countryside is picture-postcard Sweden. There are many small picturesque villages and a mixture of open farmland, woodland, and lakes. The wonderful coastline of the Swedish Riviera is only 5km away. When the weather allows we can arrange an excursion to places like the Ales Stones (the “Swedish Stonehenge”) and local castles.
You can also hang out in the garden where we have a treehouse meditation platform and a jacuzzi. There is a small ICA supermarket 5 minutes walk from the ashram.
